SMOY

I love this show. It is amazing. After seeing it opening weekend, I walked away not knowing if I would even let Kenna see it. It is pretty intense. She is insane though, and loves that stuff. She is the one that gets on Youtube and looks for ghost sighting and stuff, then laughs!! Well, eventually some of our kids' friends had seen it and were telling Kenna and Brady how "awesome" it is. So for the last month this is what I have been hearing from Brady.

"When can I see Dark Knight?"
"Mom, Did you see Dark Knight?"
"Can I see Dark Knight for my birthday?"
"Is the Joker scary?"
"Matthew saw Dark Knight."
"Mom, you said I could see Dark Knight for my birthday, huh."
"See, Kenna, I get to see Dark Knight for my birthday, only not in the movie theater."

You get the picture...this kid was obsessed with wanting to see it. Marcus and I decided that we would take them to the matinee this weekend. Knowing this, I was trying to describe Two-Face...I thought he would be the one to freak him out the most. He is pretty nasty. He kept telling me that he knew what Two-Face looked like from the Batman we have at home... (Batman Forever with Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face. SOOO not even close to this new guy.) Marissa went to Aunt Sam's and we took Mallory, Kenna and Brady to the show. We didn't tell Brady what we were watching.

Once it started and he realized what it was he was soo excited and did really great. Until that great part where the Joker and Batman are fighting in the streets and blowing up cars. The Joker's face paint is melting at this point and he looks freaky. Brady asks me "Mom, did you have nightmares after you saw-ed this show?" I tell him no, that is is all just pretend...now I am feeling like a SMOY. (Shit Mom Of the Year). We kept him stocked with popcorn, soda, pucker powder and nachos, hoping that if he needed the distraction he had it.. Meanwhile, Kenna and Mal gal are not even sitting by us. We could hear Kenna saying "Ha ha...Awesome!" throughout the show. Bonus about going right before it leaves the theaters is that there were only 2 other people in the theater, that is always nice.

So, Harvey gets burned and I tell Brady that he is going to be 2 Face and that is why, because he was burned really bad in a fire... He instantly climbs on my lap and buries his face in my shoulder. He didn't watch the rest of the show...he would peek every now and then, but he never did see 2 face, which really is probably a good thing.

We left and he was being all tough. "Did you see that one part, Kenna?" Little fart. No nightmares last night...I have to say I am a little shocked. Oh well, now he can say he has seen it.

"The Tigers sucked-ed."

Go TIGERS!!

It is Homecoming Week here in Rock Springs, and being a smallish town, it is a pretty big deal. This afternoon was the parade. Whoo!! Kids were excited, especially since I sucked at getting to the fair parade... oh well.

Mallory and Marissa.

Kenna, doesn't she look thrilled??

Matthew and Brady.

One of the floats. I am pretty impressed by those high school kiddos!

So besides making me feel that much older, the kids got lots of candy and some black and orange beads... nice. Brady is going with Julz to the game tonight, I will let you know if we win!

Go Tigers!!

Huggie

Yesterday my mom was cleaning out the shed in her backyard... She called and said that I needed to come over; which I did. We found this HUGE barrel that was stuffed full of all me and my brothers "special toys" from when we were little. Talk about memory lane...

This is Huggie. My dad was working construction and the first time he was gone for a few days, he came home with this huge stuffed bear. I had to have been less than 2. Anyways...I LOVED this bear! So stinkin sweet cuz now Marissa is in love with him. She slept with him and everything last night. How stinkin cute is that??

We also found my "Happy's", my My Child, a bunch of my Cabbage Patch Kids, and another favorite of mine, a baby without an arm cuz I would carry her around by just that arm. Poor thing. Jeff had his My Buddy doll (My Buddy, My Buddy, My Buddy and ME!! Remember???) and Jed had Spencer Elvis Blau. That is his monkey/ape/gorilla he got when he had his appendix out. He loved Spencer. Spencer got the middle name of Elvis after mom washed him AND dried him... His nylonish fur didn't fare so well in the dryer and he came out looking quite Elvis-ish. Poor Monkey...

It was a lot of fun going thru that barrel. How insane. I never in a million years thought that my baby would ever be playing with my toys. Sniff.

We have a child in the DOUBLE DIGITS!!!

You would think having your baby go to Kindergarten would make you feel old...then she loses her first tooth and the tooth fairy is born...then she gets braces...then baptized....then she freaking turns 10! That is DOUBLE DIGITS PEOPLE!!Ugh! Talk about feeling soo old. Insane how fast everything goes. Little stinker.

So McKenna is 10, her birthday was September 13. She really is an amazing girl. She is sweet and fun. She loves to play any kind of sport and is really good at it. (I don't know where she got that from...not me!) She is a complete daddy's girl, which Marcus loves. She is helpful. She is that girl that gets along with everyone, she rarely has conflicts. She is amazingly fearless. Loves anything freaky or scary. LOVES Sharkweek on Discovery Channel. Oh my goodness, our DVR fills up fast during that week. Much to my dismay, she never did like babies...sigh. She skipped Cabbage Patch Kids and went right to Polly and Bratz. Sigh. Although, she does LOVE her webkinz. She panics when she isn't able to feed them for a day or over a weekend. Heaven forbid they get "sick". She is completely tomboy. Anything pink or with pink on it is not ok with her. Flowers, lace?? Forget it. Even purple and yellow are iffy. But she is definitely a sweetheart, and has a wonderful place in our hearts and family. I can't imagine our lives without her.

So what does a 10 year old want these days? A freaking CELL PHONE!! Are you kidding me? I had told her forever that she wasn't getting one until 7th grade. But all her friends have one and of course, her daddy caved. She is a daddy's girl...did I mention that? It is still so ridiculous to me. I dont know what we are going to get her for Christmas...a flat screen for her room? Seriously...it is insane how fast they are growing.

Anyways, we were in SLC and met Papa Dave, Nana, Missy, Aunt Cheryl and Uncle George at Little America for breakfast before they all left for home. Kenna got some cash from them (I told her she has to take me to lunch this week, she made loot!!). I snuck away and grabbed our waitress to see if she would bring her present on a tray...she agreed and said she would go get a peice of cake with a candle as well. It was perfect. She walked in and we started to sing. She put the piece of chocolate cake in front of her, then set another plate in front of her with the phone on it. She freaked. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!" Of course her dad got a hug...me not so much...sigh, I guess she knew it was her daddy that came through for her. Lol.

Her first phone call from Aunt Jan.

While there, we went to Lagoon. We hadn't been since Braden was a baby, so like 6 years? I have always LOVED Lagoon. Marcus...not so much. But it worked out, Marcus hung out with Brady and Marissa and I went with Kenna, Teresa and Coltin. Fun fun.

Here we are getting on our first ride. The Dinosaur Drop. Brady was TERRIFIED! I made him go on it, promising that if he didn't like it he wouldn't have to go ever again. Guess what? I think we went on that ride 12 more times. He loved it!!!

Me and Kenna.

Me and Bubby, look how scared he is.

Me and Coltin John.

Me and Rissa Roo.

Me and Teresa Lou...It was one of those cheesy moments for me...Sorry.

Getting ready to go up.

Me talking to Brady as he had the death grip. He freaked during the first drop, then we had our hands up. Silly little bugger.

And then my camera died. Of course. I guess I should have charged it from the 800 pictures we took the night before at the wedding eh? Thank goodness for Camera Phones..

Brady and Marissa on the plane.

Did I mention how stinkin BRAVE Miss McKenna is? They did the sky coaster! Insane. I have bungeed once, but I dont think I could ever again. Coltin even made the Birthday Girl pull the thingy to make them fall. She is insane. I couldn't believe it.

Going up. Then I switched to video.
And they made it. She is insane. We went on the Collasus and when we got off, she said "That was weak". Little fart. We didnt make it onto the Wicked...Kenna was bummed. That line was forever long...and there really wasnt lines there...so next time.

Happy Birthday Kenny Annie...we love you soo much. You are an amazing girl. You have a lot of people that look up to you, and it is amazing the example you set for them. I love you.

Mr & Mrs Carrier

Marcus' beautiful sister Sam was married on September 12. It was a great time. We left right after school got out for SLC and made it just in time for the rehearsal dinner which was at Diamond Lil's. That was a really cool place. All rustic-cabiney, and the food was great to boot! What more do you need?

Brady trying on Papa Dave's glasses and hat. So stinkin cute.

This had to be the best part of Diamond Lil's. This is what you saw when you opened the door to the womens 'outhouse'. Hilarious. The bathrooms were to the left, but it was quite the shock to open the door and see him sitting there. Marissa was completely terrified. Aunt Cheryl was slapping him and everything to try to convince her that he wasn't real, but she didn't believe her at all.

And this is what you saw as you were walking into the mens 'outhouse'. Love the exposed boob. Brady also had a hard time going in at first. I think he had to have someone with him every time he went. Not that I can blame him, she is kinda scary.

After a day of shopping...had to find the kids new dress shoes and of course go to Ikea ;0)....we met at 4:30 for the wedding. The judge was awesome and did a wonderful job with the ceremony. It was really sweet...
Mr. and Mrs. Chris Carrier...first kiss as hubby and wife.

She looks soo good. Aren't they cute!?

Marcus' 2 sisters, Missy and Sam

The Fish Family....Marcus, me, Missy, Kenna, Chris, Brady, Sam, Marissa, Mary and Papa Dave.

They had their reception at Squatters. It was awesome. For those of you that have been there, they were able to reserve the entire loft. It was awesome. GREAT food...and they had a really good turn out. They had it in SLC because it was a central location. It ended up working out great.
Their Cake. I love the bride all wrapped around him. Aw. How cute is that?
They didn't have dancing...but never fear... Chris' four friends sang (and by saying 'sang', I am stretching) so they could have their first dance as husband and wife. Hilarious. I was dying. Oh...it gets better. They then sang a song they had made up. Something like "Sam and Chris...met at the Macaroni Grill...where they shared spaghetti...as a mee--al... They lived together...on Narrow Canyon Road...ect"

Chris' brother Creston, Sam and Coltin.

Nice bunny ears, eh?

Grampy and Grandma's Birthday BBQ...

It was my dad's birthday on the 9th and will be mom's on the 20th...so we had a little bbq to celebrate both. It is always fun to get together with my brothers. Oh my goodness, my cheeks hurt from laughing so hard that night. The best was Coltin's "Steve-O" from Jackass. Hilarious.

Jed and Marissa.

"Steve-O"

Grampy and Marissa. She was showing us her "4 & 6 pack" she has like Brady. Only, she would push her belly all the way out. She had more of a keg than a "4 & 6 pack".

Love to get together with the family. Jeff and Breezy weren't able to come because Jeff is working nights. Sigh. There is always next time.

Marissa's Turn...

Are you kidding me? I swear people are going to think we beat our kids. Marissa was playing in her room and somehow, got herself a shiner. Same eye and everything as Brady. His just BARELY went away. Little stinkers. She insists she needs an ice pack. Drama Queen...

Never a Dull moment at the Fish House....

We got up and headed out to soccer games. Kenna had one at 9:00. Tis the season... The other team didn't show up so they just had a scrimmage against each other. They did good. They are on the big field this year, which is a lot different from the smaller field. I can't believe it is that time though...that means it is going to be getting cold. Suck.

We came home to do some yard work....what pops under our fence?? A ferret! I went and got him, he was as tame as could be. Marcus was too funny though...anything that resembles a mouse it not ok with him. I called the Miss Pat...Brady's teacher from last year (they had a class ferret). She gave me the number of a guy that rescues them. He came right over, good thing, Maxi was going insane. She wanted what was in that box BAD!!

Then it was UFC Fight Night. We had some people over to BBQ and watch the fight. Thank goodness for DVR, we didn't get to the fights last night, going to watch them today. Joann and Richard had brought us a little fire pit. Fun...so we made smores. Yum-o.

This picture is so sad, but cracks me up. She was freaked that her mellow was on fire.

Victoria and Marissa.

Richard, Joann, Sam, Kenna, Marcus and Marissa.

Love summer nights.

More School Firsts...

Yesterday was Brady's first time riding the bus. He hopped out of bed almost frantic and ran to brush his teeth so he wouldn't miss the bus. He had over an hour...such a nut. We drug out breakfast and getting ready for as long as possible and were still outside waiting for 25 minutes. SO excited!

Brady and Marissa.

There he goes...It is a big bus, not one of the shorter ones. Insane. What does the bus driver say as Brady is getting on? She asks if Marissa has 2 years before she goes...NOPE! It is NEXT YEAR! What? That is just insane.

A little drama...of course. I had filled out a card saying how Braden and McKenna were going to be getting home from school. I said that unless I call the school I would pick them up. Somehow there was a mix-up and Mr Danhoff was trying to put Brady on the bus. Mr Danhoff got the bus sticker from the office with bus #53 on it. Brady knew that I was going to be picking him up, and was trying to convince Mr Danhoff, but he didn't know that (or couldn't understand it thru the sobs) and was trying to make him get on the bus.

Well...I had asked my friend Julie to get the kids cuz I had a million things to run the kids around for after school and was trying to gather their stuff. When Julie and McKenna finally found Brady he was sobbing. He was so upset. Poor guy. Insane. I guess I should watch how I word things...that is not something you want to have happen on the second day of school!

Miss Marissa. It was her first day of Preschool. She was soo excited to get to see Miss Mer Lee and her friends again. She goes from 11:00-1:00 M-W-F, but was so annoyed that she didn't get to go right after Brady went to school. Poor thing. She loves it though, and has her "best friend Cailey" in her class as well as some new friends. She didn't even care. She got out of the car and walked in by herself, put her backpack where it goes and was like "Bye Mom". Little Miss Independent!

This is today. We were laying in my bed reading and I ran downstairs for something. When I came up, she was still "reading"and had her baby all tucked in beside her. She is so stinkin cute, I just want to squeeze her. I was really worried she would be completely "lost" without Brady home. She has done really well. She plays on nickjr.com and helped me make lunch. So far, so good. Hopefully that continues.

So there is the last of the school firsts....until next year.

Midnight Sun...

My equally Twilight obsessed friend Amber called me yesterday to tell me the bestest and worst news ever. Apparently someone leaked Midnight Sun and it was spreading thru email. Somewhere along the line a jackass put a virus with it. Stephenie Meyer found out and was livid. She has put what she has written...about 11 Chapters...on her website www.stepheniemeyer.com Great right? Bad part. She is so upset finishing it is on hold indefinitely. UGH! I don't know whether to read it just to get all wrapped up in Twilight again, or wait. But I can't wait...I read the first chapter when she released that and that started me re-reading the entire series....

Just thought I would share with all my Edward obsessed friends...

Ahhh....

Success! He liked school. The first thing he said was "Mom! I didn't even get my shoes dirty!" I didn't even say anything like that...he just REALLY likes his shoes. He is looking forward to tomorrow when he really will ride the bus. (I called the Bus Barn and we figured it out). Wow.

Rissa goes tomorrow too, from 11:00-1:00. What am I going to do completely KID FREE for 2 hours? Read, Blog, Sleep? Sounds good to me!

First Day of School

Oh my goodness. I am such a party pooper today. I am freaking out, sad, whiney, nervous and excited. I can't wait to go pick them (him) up today. I am sooo hoping that everything went good. He was so nervous last night, it broke my heart. But we did it. Got up early and went to school. They had doughnuts and juice before school today. So we got there about 8:15.

This is the only picture I have of Kenna. The little social butterfly was gone. I assume she got to class ok?!? Who knows. Soo excited, and Brady was sooo nervous. She is a sweetie...

Kindergarten is ALL DAY here. It goes from 9:30 to 3:33. What? That is such a long time. I think that is what has me so freaked out. And poor Marissa is all alone. (Me too)... He wanted his hair in "spikes" today, so we attempted. It will go good in a few days, right now the summer-no-do has other ideas. So hard to make it go back when it has been laying forward all summer. Oh well. It worked. At least for a while.

Since we had so long between Kenna going into school and Brady's starting, we came home and he was going to ride the bus and I was going to meet him there. Here he is waiting...and it never came. I thought it was supposed to be at the house at 9:04 and at 9:15, it still wasn't there. I thought that it was supposed to come right in front of the house, but then I wasn't so sure...so we just went to school again.

His teacher is Mr. Danhoff. I have heard nothing but good things about him. Brady is totally crazy at home, but at school or church or soccer practice...he is really quiet. I am sure that makes him a good student. His preschool teachers just loved him. So we will see how the day went in about 43 minutes...not that I am counting. ;O)

This is also Kenna's last year in elementary school. WHAT??? The 5th and 6th graders go to White Mountain Elementary across town...it is the "Intermediate" school. That is going to be really weird. This is the one and only time Kenna and Brady will be in the same school. So weird.

Jeff (my brother) told me I was all depressed and wigging that I was getting old. I told him no, it is just that my kids are. He laughed at me and told me it was the same thing. It is soo not. Im not old! Freak.
