Ok, so its been a little longer than I thought it had been . Like since New Years. Oops. But in my defense, all the “cool” stuff just happened this weekend, so gave me a good reason to share. So, lets get cracking…
New Years Eve. Nana was here…and still is since she MOVED here! While she was visiting, she applied for jobs as required by unemployment and landed a killer one. She is teaching office billing/medical assisting at a Med/Tech school in Suncrest. It is perfect for her and I really think she is enjoying it. We love having family nearby. Its been a good situation all around.
But back to New Years….We had shrimp, of course…and somehow ended up with all the neighbor kids. Party at the Fish House I guess. Everyone made it til midnight…. We had a good time.
We got busy on finishing the basement! YAY! Really, Marcus and his friend Mike spent about 9 days down there. They busted it out. It looks awesome. We love it. Random pictures below in the order of completion… :) But the drywall dust was def my least favorite part. It was EVERYWHERE! And my poor mom chose that time to come visit. Between Sean’s nap and working on the basement, there wasn’t a lot of time for “fun”. Next time momma….that just means you have to come back…
Coltin and Holly had a gender reveal party. We facetimed so we could “be there”. It’s a BOY! Little Logan John Blau will be here in May. We cant wait to meet him.
Sean, of course, got sick. Man, that poor kid. He was officially diagnosed with asthma and being on the the daily treatment has definitely helped him.
We went to breakfast for my friend Jessica’s birthday. Seany helped himself to some cupcakes..
And made random friends while shopping at our favorite store, Gabriel Brothers.. We love Gabes.
My beautiful momma and Miss Riss.
Kenna and her BFF Maddye jamming while Grandma was here to visit. I am pretty sure this was their “redneck/hick” version. They crack me up.
Snuggling with little man. I love when he stops for just a minute and cuddles. It is the best ever. Seriously.
Awesome green in the “workout room”. Well, it will be. Right now it is Nanas bedroom. Nice for her to have her own space. I love that green tho.
Brady, once again “won” the pinewood derby in his age bracket. If you remember, he is the only one in his age bracket. Bahaha! He was not the carrot, he was the car. But that carrot was super fast. Seriously. Maybe Landon was onto something….
I did a girls trip to DC. Visited the temple, ate good food and cupcakes and did some fast and furious shopping. Was a great time and my first time in DC. Loved it and only saw the area near Georgetown. It is a neat city. And I am blessed with some great friends.
Sean's new favorite spot to watch his show. Was Nightmare Before Christmas for about 2 months. Every. Single. Day. Several. Times. A. Day. Eeek! Now he has moved onto The Lorax.
Playing in Kennas room and hanging with Mario at our Mexican Restaurant. We love it there.
However, shopping with him is always a challenge. I have decided that it is in the best interest of my sanity to just stay home. Seriously. He wears me out!
More of the basement. I stained the stairs and put on the bead board. Look awesome. And we stained the concrete, there is no carpet….was a good way to make them look nice. And some French doors leading into the workout room/Mary’s room.
We did get some snow. This much was enough to warrant 3 snow days. We had a 5 day weekend. Seriously, you can still see the grass. It is crazy. Sean liked helping with the shoveling. He is such an outside boy. We cant wait for spring.
And because I find it hilarious….
Obviously the snow didn’t stay long and we were able to take walks with the trusty mower. He was sidetracked by the airplane. This kid doesn’t talk much, but he signs a bit. Airplane, bird and dog are by far his favorite things…
While it was nice, we decided to take a break from the gym and run on the rail trail. We got 2 miles down the trail when the rain started. It was a really wet 2 mile run back to the car. Honestly, it was fun. Sean was a trooper.
I borrowed this little dancing pig, Cupig, and his book to read to Brady’s class at school. Brady asked me where I got the pig. I told him, “B, I got it off your bed..you know you sleep with it every night!” In front of his entire class. He was so bright red, he could barely talk. He, of course, quickly denied it…. Classmates were giggling. It was really funny. Being the awesome mom that I am, I did clarify were we got it. Hopefully he doesn’t get beat up on the playground.
Sean got super sick. Like close to the sickest he's ever been. Most of the time when he is sick, he is just lethargic… This time he was a mess. Serious mess. He had a sinus infection, croup and found out that BOTH his tubes are not in drums anymore. It hadn't even been a year! Ugh. But no infection in ears, so hopefully his tubes have developed enough that he wont have issues. Poor guy. It was a rough week. And couldn’t have had worst timing….
Because my dad and brother Jeff were en route to drive Nana her car here from Nevada. Originally, Marcus and I were going to do it. But once Jeffy found out, he volunteered. It doesn’t hurt that the car is a Corvette….Ha! Dad quickly jumped on board as well. Was a fun quick visit. Hadn’t seen Jeffy since Coltin and Holly’s wedding a year and 1/2 ago. Sad. Crazy how fast time goes… But they came…and brought gifts. Like the ghetto Nintendo! Whoo!! Dr Mario is my favorite.
Jeffy and I beat Mario Brothers 3. Yep, we still got it. He also had a little sidekick, Miss Riss.
See how sick he was?! It was horrible. Seriously.
And sweet Miss Riss. Sad that they are leaving. But well see them in June. So not too much longer…
This was seriously 2 days later. Was so nice to have his crazy self back! I missed him!
Lunch Bunch with Marissa. We went to Fuji. Sean was loving feeding the big old fish. And the turtle actually came out of hiding for a few minutes.
Our neighbor Maddie had her 12th birthday party at the bowling alley. Her momma asked me to take pictures and it was super fun. Maddie has downs syndrome, but is also non-verbal autistic. She is the sweetest girl.
Brady fell asleep during sacrament meeting.
Sean is back into everything…. Loves finishing off Marissa’s cereal and his “nudie run” after every bath time. It is a challenge to catch the little turd.
Brady and Marissa’s Valentines this year….
I love the random pictures Breeze sends me of her baby Tiny. He is so spoiled rotten. Ginormous and they are completely in love.
I was cleaning the kitchen and pulled out the stove. Look what I found! Sean’s ssc. I lost it almost immediately after I received it almost 2 years ago. I ripped the house apart looking for the stupid thing, but never found it. Had to jump thru several hoops to get a new one. Ugh!! And there it was. Under the stove…next to the goldfish crackers. Yummy.
Also as I was cleaning, he threw his bowl of lays chips all over the floor…and decided that it was a good time to stack the hugs in the mini fridge.
He then decided to help me clean up. What a sweetie.
Just hanging out. Watching Lorax. Again.
Brady’s lunch bunch visit to Mexican restaurant. Julio took him into kitchen and gave him the sharpest objects there… Way to be.
Totally awesome shots of me, but we decided it was time for a cut. I had been dreading it. I knew that it would completely change his look and he wouldn’t look like our baby anymore. Sniff. But he was always rocking this ratty back. Was so cute right out of the bath, with those curls..but would never stay that way for long. So snip snip, and sniff sniff.
And he looks like a completely different boy. Makes me see a lot more Blau in him, I see a lot of my brother Jed.
We left on Thursday the 21 for DC. My cousin Lindsey was getting married! We visited the visitor's center and snuggled with little Claire. Seany wasn’t sure about her…
And Mr. and Mrs. Adam Pence. So happy for them. Lindsey was absolutely stunning.
Off to grab some lunch then headed to the reception center. It was at a botanical garden. It was absolutely beautiful. Linds did all of the pieces on her own. It turned out beautifully. I am sure she could try her very talented hand in wedding planning if she wanted…
Sean just like running around and being crazy. He loves to ham it up for the camera and I love that he hams it up for the camera…
Obviously, he isn’t the only one that does…
I love this man. Kinda a lot.
Their cookie “wedding cake” and those cookies were delicious. She also had a grooms cake…the car. And dozens of those cake pops that looked like flowers she had a friend make. I know how hard cake pops are, so that is a wonderful friend!!
Sean running around and exploring. We knew that he would end up in that river by the end of the night….thankfully, he didn’t. But thought it was fun to throw his bink in the river and fish it out. Yummy.
Since Adam is a convert, they decided to have a ring ceremony so his family could be a part of it.Marissa was an impromptu dress lifter. She loved being able to be a part of the wedding. It was beautiful. They said some wonderful things to each other. The best part was when Adam dropped her ring. Every gasped. Lindsey was quick to respond, “That not a sign”. Ha! I love that girl.
Seany running outside with a cookie in his mouth. What a goober.
And Kenner's playing with Claire and Allie. Little Allie is the sweetest, sassiest thing. When we were talking to her about Lindsey, telling her that I bet she looked like a princess. She immediately said “Like a mermaid?!” I guess Little Mermaid is her favorite Disney movie as well.
Toast! Adams mom and dad, Lindsey's parents and Adams best friend. The are sure loved.
My cousin Bryan, who is Kenna’s age. He is hysterical. Kids had a good time getting to know one another…
My sweet love and I shaking our groove thing on the dance floor. Have I told you how lucky I am?
I literally drug Brady onto the dance floor. He whined and complained, but secretly loved every bit of it.
My Uncle Brad got Kenna out on the dance floor. By then she had taken off her boots and was rocking some awesome socks. When did she get so big?
Brady…then Brendon and Bryan.
The beautiful Bride.
The next day, we made our way to Downtown DC. It was incredible. If you haven't been, go. I can’t believe we have been here almost 3 years and hadn’t been. I think I knew there was SO MUCH to do, I didn’t know where to start. Too overwhelming. But I cant wait to go again. Probably when it is warmer…
We visited a few Smithsonian's. The American History was our first stop.. We learned about money. Cars, trains and planes. Also saw the “Star Spangled Banner” exhibit. Was incredible. Makes you proud to be an American.
We cut out of that museum and headed next door to the Museum of Natural History (aka, the Night at the Museum, museum) We saw ginormous gems…including the Hope Diamond. Kids loved playing with this magnetic rock…
I don’t think she realized there was a stuffed vampire bat in that exhibit. Ha!
The forensic bones exhibit. This was a spine that reminded me of Breeze. Pretty incredible.
Ran into some people we know. Bryan, Brendon, Aunt Lynda and Uncle Brad were hanging downtown DC as well. Sean NEVER sleeps in his stroller. This was awesome. We must have really worn him out.
We made a stop at Target before meeting all the family for dinner. The escalator thing with the shopping cart pulley was crazy. Kids couldn’t stop talking about it. Go figure, out of all they had seen for the day, that was the thing that stood out the most!
The next day we went to the “National Aquarium”. Honestly, it was ghetto. Everything in DC is free and this wasn’t. But we went. Was a break from the drizzly rain that was going on… And the building was really cool. Really old.
Drizzly rain didn’t keep Kenna away from holding up the Washington Monument. It was heavy. Good thing dad was there to help her out…
Stopped at the WWII Memorial. Each of those stars represents 100 soldiers. Unbelievable.
Reflection Pool at the Lincoln Memorial.
Random person, get out of my picture! Ha. The Lincoln Memorial may have been my favorite. There is a quiet respect there. A neat feeling.
Kids in front of the White House. Once we found it. Ha! We, meaning I, thought the treasury department next to the White House was the White House. Marcus and I talked about what a let down it was…kinda like when we saw the Statue of Liberty. Not near as cool in person as it is on TV…. But once we found the White House, it was pretty cool.
We let Sean out of the stroller on way back. He was fascinated with the birds. As I told you, that is one of the words that he signs. So off he goes…trying to catch a birdy. Poop was definitly an issue. Gross. But he was sweet and happy…
When we got home, we had to measure against the wall in the garage. Marissa and Brady have grown about an inch in 6 month, Sean 2 inches and Kenna is almost 4 inches TALLER than me! Ugh. How did that happen. Its weird. I love her.
So there you go. That’s what we've been up to. Our baby turns 2 in a few weeks. We celebrate a big anniversary… Soccer is gonna be starting. Spring is coming. Good things are happening. We are blessed.
As always. Come see us. Really.
