Back To Normal…I think?

{Insert BIG sigh}

We are officially here. We made it and all survived. It has been a crazy 5 weeks (I just added that up and cannot believe it has already been 5 weeks. Tear.)

First of all, this is gonna be one heck of a post(s)…so just keep reading (if you wanna)…may even have to click on the older posts tab. Yeah, gonna be a doozy.

This is our last night in the house in “Lewis”. For some reason, Brady never got that we lived on Lewis St in Rock Springs and always would ask if we were in Lewis yet. ;) Ken Doll had a little bit of a rough night…so many mixed emotions and feelings going on. Excited for the new adventure, new house, new town, new start, and of course living with Daddy again…but all those new things are incredibly scary at the same time.June July 2010 044

Mal Gal had her birthday party the day before we left. She had won a blow up toy at the school carnival and scheduled it for her party. It was awesome. I did it a time or two and it kicked my bootie!! Seriously. The kids loved it though. It was definitely a hit.

Marcus’ sister Missy that just graduated High School came out to ride with me and help drive across the country. It was awesome.

We also had a big family dinner Saturday night. Jed, Chelsea and Baby Damien were in town spending time after Jed’s deployment….so we were lucky to be able to spend some time with them before we moved. Perfect timing. June July 2010 290 June July 2010 295

Of course between the return from deployment and our move, we had to squeeze family pictures in.

Dinner was at Siam King. Julz, Mallory and Matthew came as well. And yes, Jed and Brady are doing arm bar takedowns in the restaurant. Awesome.

June July 2010 380 June July 2010 394

It was also Missy’s 18th Birthday. In lieu of buying some cigarettes, we had some yummy cake thing from the restaurant. They sang and everything. Yes in vision “The Christmas Story” here.

And people always always tell me and Teresa how much we look alike. In fact, when I went to her ward when Damien was blessed a lady walked up to me, said “Its so good to see you” and gave me a hug. I just played along, thinking I was supposed to know her… Found out later, she thought I was Teresa.  Hee hee.

Anyways, I never really saw it…until now. June July 2010 432

On The Road

Here is Wyoming. Wide open spaces with not a whole lot to look at. Some pretty cool windmills by Evanston and again by Laramie.June July 2010 483

In Nebraska, How funny. Saw this town called Brady when I was searching online for things to do along the way. By the way, unless you want to stop at the National Museum of Roller-skating, there isn’t a whole lot to do along I80.June July 2010 485

I loathe Nebraska. Not only is it incredibly boring, but it smells like cow butt and perm solution. Yes, I am one of those weirdos that LOVE the smell of perm solution, but the combination was horrid. We also ran into the horrific rain storm that was so intense, I pulled over….on the freeway!!  This is the view from my windshield…the wipers we on, full speed and we are stopped. It was horrible. We stopped in Lexington, Nebraska for our first night on the road. Holiday Inn Express is the way to go.

June July 2010 489

While Nebraska was awful, we did find entertainment. We looked at town names and made up people names and made up stories about them..like what their jobs would be ect. Anita Hancock…:) Here is something quite clever…Romeoville and Joliet.Common, that is awesome.

Into Iowa!

June July 2010 498 June July 2010 493

My mom and Teresa put together this awesome game for the kids. They answered a question every 100 miles about each other. Like Brady had to say what Kenna’s favorite food was…if they got it right, they got to open a little present. If they got it wrong, they had to wait 10 miles before opening. It was a Godsend…I tell you what. Instead of “How much longer?” and “Are we there YET!!” We got “Have we gone 100 miles yet?”

June July 2010 505 June July 2010 509

Stopped a rest stop to have sandwiches and run around for a bit. Played some catch, chased the dog…June July 2010 523 June July 2010 527

Kenna had a little meltdown in Iowa. :( We had just watched Karate Kid and I envisioned us telling Kenna the same thing Jaden’s mom in the show does. We are moving. And you can make it as hard or as easy as you want it to be….But oh…I remember moving, I remember how traumatic it was for me. Of course I was 16 not 11, but still.

Are you ready folks? This is the

BIGGEST TRUCK STOP IN AMERICA

    June July 2010 608

This was supposed to be the sign of going into Illinois…we missed it.

June July 2010 629

This is in Lansing, Illinois where we were going to stay our second night. We were so done traveling. Had been on the road for 15+ hours… went to the Holiday Inn Express and they wouldn’t let us have Silvie in the room, so we went here…they still wouldn’t let us, but we decided she would be fine in her kennel in the truck overnight…We were just so ready to be out of the car and find something to eat. But as soon as we got stuff out of the car and got into the room. I just was uncomfortable. I looked at Missy and asked her what she thought and she said it would be okay. I asked her how she felt, and she said she felt weird. When Marcus got back into the room after getting more luggage, I told him that I didn’t think we should stay and that we should just keep driving. I just wasn’t comfortable. He didn’t even say anything to me, just told the kids to turn off the TV, and go load back up. The front desk gave us a credit and we got back on the road. I have never regretted leaving. I don’t know what, if anything, would have happened if we had stayed…but sometimes you just have to follow those instincts and promptings without questioning them.

 June July 2010 635

Since it was pitch-black when we entered Indiana, we didn’t get a pic of that state sign either. But we did stop at La Porte Indiana and had some scrumptious Taco Bell for dinner. Once in our rooms for the night, Marcus said that he was glad we left, and we both felt much more comfortable where we were… Sigh.

Onto Ohio….

 June July 2010 644 June July 2010 655 June July 2010 664

And Pennsylvania….

June July 2010 692

Whoo!!! So so glad those 1718 miles are over!! Kids really did awesome. So did the dog. I only sobbed halfway into Nebraska, so not as bad as I thought it was going to be…

June July 2010 697

Take Me Home, West Virginia

We checked into the Ramada, our home for 16 nights and took the kids out to see the house… All of us really. Marcus hadn’t seen it for over 3 weeks and I hadn’t in over a month…so a lot had changed. It was awesome…and so exciting!!

June July 2010 708 June July 2010 716 June July 2010 724

And it got to the point where huge things would change day by day. The next day we had countertops, light fixtures and closet stuff. Marissa was very excited that she was going to be able to reach her own clothes….

June July 2010 726 June July 2010 732 June July 2010 734

Life in the hotel is pretty good. We did a lot of swimming. I mean, really, can you complain about breakfast being made for you everyday and someone making your bed?? No. We had adjoining rooms which was the only way we survived…did a ton of shopping and window shopping over the time we were there. Didn’t want to buy when we didn’t really have places to put it. Made lists and window shopped some more. It is a rough life. ;)

We, of course, spent our first weekend testing out Cheat Lake. It is seriously IN TOWN. It is an exit away from our house. Literally 5 minutes. While it is not the cleanest lake (think the Wyo side of Flaming Gorge) it is beautiful and the water is incredibly warm… The houses along the water are insane. Nothing like the conversation being “Lets go swimming” and have the response be “In the lake or pool?” Wow.

June July 2010 738 June July 2010 740  June July 2010 753 June July 2010 755

While there, Brady was being the Mast Ornament, we hit a big old wave and he split his chin open. It got it pretty good. One of those so deep it doesn’t bleed much… but it was a clean split, so we butterflied it shut, and he is good to go. Besides, scars are sexy. ;)

June July 2010 762 June July 2010 785

My Favorite Picture…♥ It. A lot.

June July 2010 817

I love that she was making Missy hold her hand while they were swimming around the boat. She is goofy.June July 2010 829 June July 2010 838 June July 2010 842

Life in the Ramada was a lot of this…. We even bought a $30 microwave to keep in the room. It was worth its weight in gold. Saved us so so much money. Kids loved Cup of Noodles, Easy Mac, Hot Pockets, Deli Creations, and sandwiches glamour. Sounds like a healthy couple of weeks doesn’t it?

Then Missy Moo seriously fell asleep when Kenna was doing her make up. She was so out cold. It was funny.June July 2010 859 June July 2010 861

Then Missy was bound and determined to get wakeboarding down… She had a couple pretty crazy wipeouts…June July 2010 881

Miss Riss took her first spin of the year on the tube. She did awesome.

June July 2010 919

Kenna, who has been iffy on tube riding since she wiped out hard about 4 years ago, finally is embracing it. She was funny. Screaming to stop while Missy was screaming to go. She learned to love it.

June July 2010 948

See the top of her head in the water? Ha ha ha.June July 2010 966

Another attempt for Moo….June July 2010 1024

And she got it folks!!

Really B? Really? He was so excited Marissa taught him how to topsy his towel.

June July 2010 1083

The first night in our new house….Ahh.. So exciting, and so strange. Of course we were up dealing with curtains….one of those things you don’t really think about needing…June July 2010 1117

And with no TV, internet or anything for2 days, Brady spent a lot of time working out. Serious 6 pack going on. He kills me.June July 2010 1121
