Summer in West Virginia….

As soon as we got home from our month long trip out west, we had visitors waiting for us! We LOVE these visitors, so we were excited to get home to see them. Aunt Cheryl and Uncle George were here! We had some nice weather and took them out on the lake.

IMG_3425IMG_3428IMG_3431IMG_3436IMG_3446

And went out to Riches Farms to watch the fireworks. Was really an amazing show. Sean was terrified at first, but quickly sat in awe…

IMG_3465IMG_3473IMG_3482IMG_3486

Sean is always most of the way naked…or completely.  Its going to be a problem…

IMG_3487IMG_3490

Sean, Scarlett and Silvie.

IMG_3537

And I love these packages….  Yummy.

IMG_3542

Sean was in our neighbors back yard and had the hose. Neighbor Joe came out and begged him not to shoot. We seriously have the best neighbors. Ever.

IMG_3555

Oh you know. Just a huge snapping turtle on the side of the road…. Not a big deal.

IMG_3560

While the were here we made the trip to the field in PA where the Flight 93 Memorial is. Wow. It was one of those places that just has a feel. Quiet. Reverent. Amazing.

We had a wonderful visit with them and hope that they come back soon. Really soon.

But our visitors are not over. We had my little sister Teresa come to stay for 2 weeks. While she was here, we made the trip up to Palmyra NY for the Hill Cammorah Pageant. Our youth group was headed up there for Youth Conference, and this was the perfect opportunity to tag along and let her experience it as well.

Of course her first HOT Krispy Kreme had to be documented..

IMG_3691

At the Hill Cammorah Pageant. We had AWESOME seats. Maybe 5-6 rows back. We could see faces. It was awesome. Really.

IMG_3710DSC00248DSC00258IMG_3709

We spent the day of the pageant exploring church history sites. We went to The Sacred Grove as well as the first homes of Joseph Smith…

IMG_3693IMG_3696

Got caught in a crazy downpour at the Sacred Grove.

IMG_3698IMG_3699

Ran into some of our favorite young people…

IMG_3701

Then off to the printing press where the Book of Mormon was first published. It was kinda cool, having gone 2 years in a row. I learned different things both times. Depending on the missionary volunteers, they share different things. It was pretty neat.

IMG_3703IMG_3705IMG_3714

The next day we made a stop at Niagara Falls.

IMG_3716

IMG_3721IMG_3724DSC00264DSC00266DSC00262IMG_3738IMG_3726

And meet Christian. How sweet is he? My sil was in labor for a long long time to get this baby here, but he couldn’t be more perfect. Stubborn little guy for not coming a week earlier so we could have met him. Love him.

IMG_3557

Took Marissa to a well child check. I never take them to those after they are done getting shots. Our kids are ALWAYS sick so we already spend a lot of time in the doctors office. But when they called and told me that she hadn’t been in since she was 6 (eek) I decided I should probably take her.

Marissa is tiny. Like really tiny. 9 1/2 and still wearing mostly size 6 clothes. Some 7-8. But mostly 6. She wears a size 12-13 shoe and weighs about 50 pounds. Not on the chart for height in her age. But, really. Look at her mother. I just always assumed that she was just little like me. And she may be. But Dr Malone recommended a bone age scan to make sure nothing else was going on. And thankfully, nothing is. We have the option of doing lab work to check her thyroid and stuff but this little thing is beyond terrified of needles. Like bad. So I'm not sure when/if that is going to happen. See if she hits a major growth spurt sometime soon…. Maybe.

For now, well just enjoy our little peanut….

IMG_3662

Another vacation was in store… but this time just for Marissa. She went to Holden Beach with her friend Betsy. How jealous was I?? Very. Missed her lots. Here are the pictures that Betsy’s momma sent to me to show me all the fun she was having…

IMG_3752IMG_3753

She missed me a little….thank goodness for FaceTime!

IMG_3773

IMG_3782IMG_3783IMG_3794IMG_3797IMG_3843IMG_3845

Meanwhile…in our world. Sean is a cute little bugger and almost got this beanbag. Seriously. He is getting much too big.

IMG_3772

We had the missionaries over for dinner. When my friend Michelle had her son out on his mission, she said the best thing ever was the random text messages she would receive of Keenan from members. Made me promise to do it whenever I got the chance. So we did. When chatting with the Elders, we found out that Elder Anderson went to school with Marcus’ cousins in Cedar City. And I went to school with Elder Theuer’s uncle… Crazy. Its such a small world when you are a member of the church.

IMG_3780IMG_3781

Another day on the lake… Really, we've had a crappy summer.  Very rainy. Booo! Haven't gotten to go out near as much as we would have liked to. But at least we are able to when we can. This trip was especially fun. See momma and all her babies. Kenna decided to feed them CHICKEN! She still refuses to believe that it was at all weird, twisted or wrong. Teresa countered her by saying that they are the same species. Kenna was still unconvinced. Teresa then told her it would be like her eating an Asian. Bahahahaha.

IMG_3807IMG_3808IMG_3812

High School Orientation. I sat in the car and cried. So not cool. How is this possible!?

IMG_3819

Later that day, we took off for Kennywood. I still cant believe that Kenna had never been inside a Krispy Kreme. Weirdo. And yes, I realize I documented both of our Krispy Kreme trips this post. Hahaha. Good thing it is 50 miles away, or I would have a problem…

IMG_3821

The stupid chair lift that takes you from the upper parking lot to the entrance. Seriously the scariest 5 minutes of my life. What happened to me in my old age? Was white knuckle gripping the entire way. Coming back up that night. A bazillion times worse. Terrifying.

IMG_3824IMG_3825

Me and my riding buddy for the day. He was not a rider last year….but did awesome this year. We had a lot of fun.

IMG_3830IMG_3831

IMG_3835

French fries, cheese and bacon. Kenna’s 3 favorite foods…..

IMG_3841

Morgantown hosts the Mountainfest for bikers. They have a huge parade where hundreds of bikes cruise down High Street. It was impressive. Sean was in heaven.

IMG_3883IMG_3896

A little neighborhood smore session. Yum.

IMG_3912

Got Sean’s big boy bed all set up. Its so cute. He rarely sleeps in it. Prefers the pack and play we have set up at the foot of the bed. Goof ball. It’s a work in progress….

IMG_3924

And the fair parade….

IMG_3934IMG_3954IMG_3960IMG_3966

Oh look…another boating trip. I seriously love it here. Come visit.

Teresa leaving us. Sniff. She needs to hurry and get her butt back here. Seriously.

IMG_3996

A trip hiking at Coopers Rock. So this day, Diane and I went out. Grilled some hotdogs. While grilling Nick came over and said that he had falling off the play set and his wrist hurt. We did the obligatory check out and gave him a Capri Sun to use as an ice bag. Nick is like our kid. Those boys are ALWAYS together….so we treated him like we would have our own. We ate. Took pictures. Hiked for over 2 hours. Went and got ice cream with nana for her birthday. And I get a text that night that they were at Urgent Care and his wrist was fractured. Awesome. He's totally holding his fractured wrist in this picture. Sorry little buddy….

DSC00272

And Sean is SUCH A BOY! Haha.

DSC00270DSC00269

Took Nana out for lunch the next day for her birthday…. Happy Birthday Nana!

IMG_4024

And then had nana watch the kiddies while Marcus and I ran away to Pittsburgh to see a Pirates game. I love date night. And I really love this man.

IMG_4039IMG_4036

Got our workout room all put together. I love going down there and working out with him. Well. Once its over. Getting down there is a different story most days…

IMG_4062

Cute little text messages I get while Brady is watching Sean. Little photo-shoots….

IMG_4067

And exactly a week later from the Coopers Rock incident… Kids are supposed to be home at 9:00. So at 9:00 Brady was riding his bike home from the boys house up the street. It was dark. Brandy, our neighbor, was pulling out of her driveway and didn’t see him. Brady realized what was going to happen and dove off his bike to get out of her way. He showed her the road rash he had on his right side. But said he was ok. Marissa was there and was of course freaking out. But B told her he was ok.

Brandy walks them home and lets us know what had happened. Of course she feels horrible… As soon as Brandy left, B held up his life hand. It was so swollen. I knew he did something. So off to the ER we go. When I asked him about it, he said that he didn’t want to freak Marissa out more or to make Brandy feel bad… He is so stinking sweet sometimes. Love his big heart.

And sure enough, after 6 hours in the ER, we were splinted up with a fractured radius. Same bone, same arm as little Nick. They are cast buddies…

IMG_4161IMG_4165

We got a bushel of pickling cucumbers and got busy. Not as good as grandmas, but with grandmas recipe, the are close.

IMG_4190

Another date night. Bonefish Grill. Yum yum yum.

IMG_4196

He couldn’t be more wrapped around his finger if he wanted to be. And the feeling is completely mutual.

IMG_4209

Afternoon church blows. Hanging in the hall with a sleeping baby. But I like the cuddles I rarely get.

IMG_4230

First day of school was August 15. Crazy. Miss Marissa is now in the 4th Grade and has Mrs. DeLawder as her teacher. She wants to be a baby doctor when she grows up.

IMG_4306

Brady is in the 5th Grade this year and has Miss Kelly. Brady wants to be a professional Soccer Player when he grows up. But if that doesn’t work out, he’d like to be a window washer. I love this kid.

IMG_4304

And McKenna. She's in the 9th Grade this year and her first year in high school. She is taking 3 honors classes and 1 AP. She is going to be a busy girl. Kenna wants to be an engineer when she grows up, but we are still deciding on the type.

IMG_4308

We got Brady’s hard cast put on for the next 3 weeks. I love his confidence.

IMG_4439

We got a new “family” car. Hahaha. Its hers to drive when she's able and she knows it. But man, I'm going to have fun zipping around in it until then.

Kenna.

IMG_4397

Naked again….

IMG_4404

You’re so sweet. A new totally hilarious ap Kenna got on her phone.

IMG_4419

And last, but most certainly not least, I found this little gem on the counter this morning.  Keep dreaming Miss Riss. On the back, she pulls the Sean card. Saying that he wants to be a big brother. Haha! Nice try little one.

IMG_4476

So I am totally and completely caught up! Whoo! Now come visit so I have something else to blog about. Miss you.
