Everything about the last 2 weeks has been FAST..too fast.
Marcus and I celebrated our 13 year Anniversary. Seriously, cannot believe it has been 13 years. Even weirder, we have 3.999 kids. It has gone incredibly fast and I seriously love him. He is my world.
We went out to a nice Italian restaurant on Friday night and Kenna had said that she wanted to cook for us Saturday night. She sent us upstairs while she cooked and prepared… Brady and Marissa came to tell us that “Dinner is Served”, complete with fancy bow and arm gestures. Kenna had stuffed mushrooms and garlic bread…then a side salad. Main course was Stuffed Shells and Marinara Sauce. Followed by Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, bananas and pretzels. She did an awesome job. Had poor B and Marissa banished to the stairs as to not “bug us”… We could hear the two of them giggling and talking all while Kenna had ‘our song’ on repeat.
It was totally sweet. She is a great kid. Never would have thought we would have our 12 yr old plan a romantic dinner for us.
Meanwhile, I had been to the dr twice. First time I was at a 2. I was just over 36 weeks. I started panicking that I wouldn’t make it till Nana got here on the 19th. I called and begged, (not really, I just had to ask) her to come earlier. I was a little stressed as to what we would do the the rest of the gang…I have friends that totally would have helped out, but having Nana here would have been so much easier!! So she flew in on the 16th…. The kids and I left after school and after my dr appointment where I was told that I was a ‘loose 3’ and that she could have stimulated labor had she wanted. Eek.
We got Nana and got home. I didn’t go into labor on the side of the interstate. Although, Kenna said that if I did have him in PA that would mean I would still have WV to have another baby in. I think she is a little delusional.
On St Patty’s Day, we woke up to a mess and green milk! Those naughty leprechauns tipped over chairs and moved everything around. Then there was that green confetti everywhere…sheesh.
Nana and I spent the day shopping. Brady thought that St Patty’s Day would be the coolest birthday EVER…. I thought a little shopping and swaggering wouldn’t hurt the process…but alas, he wasn’t gonna come today….he would come TOMORROW!
The Birth Story…
Marcus had a meeting set up to go out and visit a bunch of rigs in Elk County. As long as I was feelin ok, he would go. Elk County is about 2.5 hrs away. I got up that am and talked to him before he left for work. Was feeling totally fine (dangit) and told him to call me before he left town around 10:30. Got the kids ready and off to school. Still totally fine.
About 10 I started with braxton hicks. Didn’t hurt at all, but were pretty regular. I didn’t know whether to take a bath and lay down, or go run on the treadmill!! I took a bath…they were still there. Now I am debating on letting Marcus leave. I would feel bad if I am just being paranoid and he doesn’t go, but I decide I would feel worse if he DID go and I went into labor. I talked to him around 11…he still hadn’t left. I was still fine, but thought maybe he should stay. So he did.
By noon, they were past the crampy but still not painful. Told Marcus to finish what he needed to and to come home in an hr or so. I packed the hospital bag….
Marcus got home around 1:30. My friend’s husband, Andrew, is an anesthesiologist and said he would come do my epi. Awesome. I talked to him and he said to call when on our way and he would meet us up there.
Marcus and I got to hospital in into triage room around 2:15. I was a 4 and at the point where I couldn’t really talk thru contractions. Since I hadn’t really changed since my appointment, they wanted me to get up and walk around for an hr and then she would see if I had changed at all. I was livid!! I didn’t have an hour. I go super fast… I was induced with Marissa and from first dose of pit to baby in arms was 3 hrs!!
With my hissy fit and my nurse’s (Nola) help, we got them to admit me and start my IV. About 20 minutes later I was dying. Nola said she could get them into check me but if I hadn’t changed, I had to be prepared to hear that. I knew I had….freak.
So I was a 5 going on 6. Man it feels good to be right. They let Andrew in to do the epi. Ahh.. Best Thing EVER! Although, by the time he got done, I was an 8. They broke my water and I was complete. But man, it was a good 45 minutes of epi bliss.
Since I go thru labor so fast, our babies don’t tolerate it well. Little man’s heart rate kept dropping. They wanted him born quick, so we got the help from some forceps. Scarier sounding than it was. The dr did awesome, Sean has no marks from them and I fared pretty well too. Twelve minutes after they broke my water, he was here. Born at 4:52 pm on March 18th.
Sean Logan Fish
6 lbs 5 oz and 19”
The kids were chomping at the bit to come and meet him, so Nana brought them by. Oh my goodness, were they so in love.
So are we. It was such a blessing to have him be able to stay in the room with us. With B and Marissa, that didn’t happen…they were in the nursery or NICU immediately. It was awesome to have him here and healthy. We were also not released for 48 hrs… it seemed like forever and I was totally ready to go home by the end of it, but was so much time with just him…
He totally looks like Brady….
The rest of the crew came by again the next day…Marissa is dying for us to get home.
The kids aren't the only ones totally in love….
We left the hospital Sunday the 20th. Sean had lost some weight and was at 5 lbs 15 oz but great otherwise. Our nurses were awesome.
Little man visited the dr on Wednesday. Was at 6 lbs 2 oz and a little jaundice, but not horribly. I think that trip in the car seat was literally the first time he had been put down.
Kids are being awesome helpers. I was a little worried that since it is spring break here that there was going to be a lot of fighting over him, but they haven’t at all. They take turns and love doing whatever they can. LOVING having Nana here. I do lots of snuggling and she cooks yummy food. It has been so nice. She took the kids to the movie today, so right now it is just me and Baby Sean….So nice.
Marissa keeps making comments on how we don’t go ANYWHERE now that Baby Sean is here. I think she is going a little stir crazy. Not me. I am loving snuggling… Can’t believe it has been a week already.
I am going to go do more snuggling. It all just goes so fast.
