Summer is officially over. I am still sad. But we definitely went out with a bang…have had several visitors and many trips to the lake… I love summer.
Since the kids know no one, and therefore have no friends, they have been spending a lot of time with each other. They definitely have their good times and most often drive each other crazy. They are pretty sick of each other…and I am SOO sick of them being sick of each other. But when they are sweet to each other…life is good.
The lake here in town, Cheat Lake, gets pretty busy over the weekends. Prob cuz it is so convenient. But we took a 20 mile trip to Grafton where Tygart Lake is. It is beautiful…Bear Lake blue, but NOT Bear Lake cold…it is warm and so pretty. Found a rope swing. The kids love love it.
Even Marissa did the swing. She has turned into quite the dare devil. She did it the first time, let go into the lake…the second time, she didn’t let go!! Scared the bejeezus out of Marcus….he had to catch her before hitting the cliff side. Little turkey.
B definitely has a control thing. He will do the rope swing and jump off cliffs, but it is nearly impossible to get that kid on the tube. I think it is just because he isn’t in control of what happens. But we make him get on every once in a while anyways…maybe he will learn to like it?!?
JULZ!!! She and the kiddos came to visit us. We were so so so happy to see her. Brady was beyond excited to have Matthew to play with. It was a good 12 days… we kept pretty busy…
Went to Cheat Lake where THIS was in the water. Gross. Took a while to convince the kids to get in the water after seeing this big guy.
Then up to Tygart Lake for some more rope swing action…
Mal Gal makes Marissa babies out of towels…Rissy couldn’t be happier, or more upset when they get used!!
The kids put on a spa night for us in the basement…pedicures, hand and back massages, drinks and snacks… it was awesome.
Then off to a Pirates game. They were playing the Rockies and it was a lot of fun. Mallory, Matthew and Marcus all caught practice balls, which was awesome. They were so so excited….and the Pirates won, which makes it even more fun.
Another trip to Tygart…this time we took the blow up slide/trampoline that Jeff and Breezy gave us for Christmas… was a HUGE hit. The kids loved it and played on that thing for hours.
Since we were going to be gone all day, we took Silvie with us. She really did pretty well. Could swim, although it was more like a ‘panicked-get me out of the water’ type thing than a swim….
Marissa took good care of her. She sure is ugly when she is wet….
Julz and crew left….but a little over a week later, we got Teresa!! For Activity Days, Kenna’s group went to a swimming hole that is 8 miles up the street from our house. There are several pools were they can swim and some cliffs…it is so so pretty and just part of the river. So glad to have found it. We went back again the next day. Only wish we would have known about it 3 months ago…
And the first day of school, August 23. Wowzers. I slept like poo the night before. I was so nervous for them…especially McKenna. New school AND middle school??? Should I start saving for therapy now?? She looked beautiful with her new hair cut I am making her grow back out so we can do pig tails again. So grown up. She turns 12 in a few weeks…12 really??? Insane.
Brady is going into 2nd grade and has Mrs... Lillard. He is so impossible to get a normal picture of. Little turd. And Miss Riss is in the 1st grade and has Ms. Kelly. Kids are so easy at that age…both made many friends on the first day, although, they don’t know their names…
I survived the first day being home without them… Didn’t really go thru this last year, I was working, so it is definitely a new experience. Oh, they all had great first days too.
