Busy...

Been insane lately....here is what has been going on.

Las Vegas Trip #1

On May 31, we got a phone call that Marcus' Grandma Hazel wasn't doing very well. She had fallen just after Mother's Day and broke her leg in 2 places. While in the hospital, she got pneumonia. We made the decision for Marcus to take the kids to Las Vegas to spend some time with her. I started my new job on June 1, so I was not able to go. I had a hard few days. I really wanted to go. Not only to spend time with Grandma, but to be there for Marcus. I knew he was going to have a hard time. But, we had to do what we did. I am so so so glad that they made the trip and were able to see her.

Meanwhile. I was home. Alone. I have NEVER EVER been home alone. Whenever Marcus would leave, I would be home, but have the kids with me. It was so so strange. Way too quiet. I got caught up on some scrapbooking...so that was nice. I have decided that I don't like being home alone. Ugh. It was way too weird.

While they were there, Marcus, Chris and the kids went out to Hoover Dam. The kids thought it was awesome. Especially since Transformers was filmed there. Ha ha.
Uncle Chris, Brady, Kenna and Rissa.

Marcus and the kids.

The new bridge they are building so you dont have to cross over the dam bridge. Insanely high.

The Unicycle
Marcus and the kids left early Thursday. They made it home from Las Vegas before I got home from work. Coltin had bought (another) new unicycle. He is crazy on them. He can do all sorts of tricks. He is nuts.

Then Marcus tried. He never quite got the hang of it. I guess it is all in the practice.
Like my rental car?

AWE!
I woke up one morning and heard Riss and Brady in Brady's room. They were giggling and laughing and totally snuggling! I love that they are such good friends. So sweet. Of course about 20 minutes later, they were both in their rooms crying for getting in trouble for fighting. It never lasts long. Sigh.

Tooth
Saturday,June 11, I get a phone call while we are running. Brady had lost his tooth. Not only had he lost it, he couldnt find it. Little turd. We did a search when we got home and never did find it. We wrote a note to the tooth fairy saying that it was missing. She came while Brady was playing at his friend Kennady's. She also left a note, 3 GOLD dollars and 2 dollar bills. That sneaky tooth fairy...
So we survived the first lost tooth. Hopefully-he will decide that she isnt too bad and will let her come when he is sleeping for the next one. Maybe in 3 teeth from now? We will see.

The Jungle Book

Kenna auditioned for a play up at the High School. It was the Jungle Book and she got the part or a part of Kaa.... they would line up so they were one big snake. They did a great job! She is on the bottom corner...looking so thrilled.

Caching
We were introduced to this really cool thing called GeoCaching. I had never heard of it and in case you haven't this is what it is. You go to http://www.geocaching.com/ and enter in your zip code. It pops up with (in our case) over 300 caches that are within 15 miles of Rock Springs. That isn't even counting Green River which is 17 miles away. Anyways...then you have your GPS. Ours is able to download the coordinates from the website. Then it is time for 'hunting'.

Following the GPS, you get from anywhere from 0-7 feet of the cache. There is usually a hint that will tell you what you are looking for. Whether the cache is big or micro....and sometimes another code you can decode for a better clue. We went out to Little Firehole by Flaming Gorge and found 6. This one was on top of this hill. It was so pretty! It was just in a little tupperware with a little logbook you are able to sign saying you were there. Kenna is completely hooked. She loves it and is really good at spotting the little buggers. There was one hangin in a tree, painted to look like a pinecone. It is way fun. Better...they are EVERYWHERE!! All over the world. Pretty cool.

Me, Rissa, Mallory, Brady, Matthew, Kenna and Julz with our cache.

Las Vegas Trip #2

We got the phone call we were expecting on June 15. Grandma had passed away while sleeping in the hospice center. She was 94 and one of the most incredible women I have ever known.

So off to Las Vegas we go. We left Wednesday June 17 after I got off work and made it to Aunt Cheryls house about 3 am. Not too bad and the kids slept, which was nice. We also got to listen to Breaking Dawn on CD which was awesome. I love those books. Although Marcus is Team Jacob (that sounds bad...ha ha ha)....I dont get how you could be Team Jacob! Bella and Edward are meant to be. Marcus is hilarious tho. He has names our GPS/Navigation system in the car Alice. He kills me. I names the handheld caching GPS Eddie. Although, Eddie doesn't talk. Oh well. Had to do something!

The kids did a lot of swimming while we were there. Brady and Rissa were in the pool at 6:30 am one day. Those kids were die-hards!!

My absolutely BEAUTIFUL sister in law Missy. She is so hot.

Marcus and Brady in the pool at Aunt Cheryl's. It is still a little weird seeing Brady swim without floaties. I am so so glad he can though!

Brady. Yes, he is seriously like this all the time. He is a complete ham. He has the funniest little personality.

Kenna and Marcus.

Marcus and Brady. Marcus was getting ready to throw Brady and he lost his balance and ended up sitting on Marcus' head. It was hilarious. Brady thought he was hysterical.

Missy....nicely showing us the seal floaty.

Dinner at Viva Mercado's...all 18 of us. Yum, first of all. I love Mexican. I don't think I could EVER get sick of eating Mexican food.
Here is Kenna, Marissa, Aunt Jan and Nevaeh.
Uncle Jack and Aunt Glenna

More Pool Time...
Marissa is pretty fearless. She was jumping off that diving board like nobody's business. She doesn't even plug her nose, which is something I still have to do. She is funny.

Kenna doing the "dolphin" dive. She is such a good swimmer. She could lap any of us any day. She was on the Swim Club last year. Hopefully she continues to do that. She is awesome.

Missy's attempt at the "dolphin" She kills me. I laughed until I cried.

Brady. Everytime he would jump off the diving board, he would say..."Boom. Boom. Fire Power!" I think he liked Night at the Museum.
April and Dave and their kids Nevaeh and Natalie.

Miss Riss...in her swimming get up gloriousness.

Nevaeh. She is so stinkin cute.

Grandma Hazel Lorene Gilchrist

Seriously, Grandma was awesome. She lived independently her entire life (with the exception of hospital and rehab center stays when she broke her leg - she broke her hip a few years ago, but went home again as soon as she was able). She loved her family. She loved her books and Young and the Restless. She would tell you like it is and had such the sense of humor. She made the worlds greatest Chicken and Noodles. No lie. Marissa is named after her...Marissa Lorene Fish. I hope that she also gets some of her characteristics as well. She was an amazing lady.

One of the last times we spent with her. Last year over Labor Day. This is also most of the Great Grandkids as well. I believe there are only 3 missing...Brady was at a Rebels football game and Natalie and Nevaeh were visiting Daves dad.

Romney, Aunt Jan, Baylen, Aunt Cheryl, Kenna, Marissa, Grandma Hazel and Braxtin.

Services were held for her on Saturday, June 20, 2009. Marcus, Papa Dave, Uncle George, Uncle Jack, Uncle (cousin) Dave, and Uncle Ron were pallbearers. It was a beautiful service.

Kenna and Nevaeh.

After we went back to Aunt Cheryls for some food. They had ordered one of those edible arrangements. Way pricey...but YUM! The kids loved it. They attacked it as soon as it was opened.
Ken Doll and her daddy.

Stroller Ride. Nevaeh lovin on Marissa.

Brady. He hates to miss out on anything. We were downstairs talking and he kept coming down to see when we were coming to bed. We kept sendin him up to bed saying we would be there in a minute. This is what we found when we went upstairs. Little fart fell asleep waiting for us.
Expedition Island
My work schedule is going to be awesome. I work from noon to 6 one week and the next from 7 to 1:00. I HATE getting out of bed in the mornings, but I am going to love still having the afternoon with the kids. We went to Expedition Island in Green River. They have an awesome spray park there. Brady and Marissa loved it. Marissa also ran into Canon who was in her preschool class. They were so cute playing together.

Baseball.
Our Brady is lovin baseball. He has finally started hitting everytime he is up to bat. He is quick too. This was almost the last game of the season. He did so good.... He is already talking about next year and how he wants to be on the Cubs again.

So there you have it.
Work, roadtrips, plays, 'hunting', swimming, games... been a little crazy. I like being busy tho. We finally got our boat back too. Going out tomorrow to make sure everything is going good with it. Should be nice weather...I hope. I am so over rain. Taking the kids to see Transformers today. Marcus and I went to The Proposal last night. Loved it. Sandra Bullock is so stinking pretty.
Counting down to our little vacation too...going to St George and Las Vegas. I talked Marcus into taking me to Phantom of the Opera. Should be fun.

The Tooth Fairy

So Braden is scared to death of weird things...the Chuck E Cheese mouse, clowns (terrified of clowns) and the Toothfairy. Kenna is 10 1/2 and has lost a lot of teeth. Brady will not sleep at all when he knows the Toothfairy is coming. He will lay in bed and sniffle and cry...scared to death. He ends up on our floor on these nights.

We have tried just not telling him she is coming, but he gets word of even a tooth wiggle and starts asking--every day--several times a day--if Kenna has lost her tooth and if the Toothfairy is coming.

Finally we wrote at letter to the Toothfairy asking her to come while the kids were in school. Good sleeping after that...(for all of us ;O)

Now imagine what little man is thinking since it is HIS tooth that is loose. Really loose. Hanging by a thread. And it is SUMMER!! Freak! When is she coming now? I think this is the only reason that thing is still in his mouth. You would think the thought of $5 would mellow him and get him excited. Nope. Sigh.

He told Marcus today that when his tooth falls out he is going to give it to McKenna and have Kenna keep it under her pillow. Then he is going to go to McKenna the next morning and ask for his money. No way is the Toothfairy coming in HIS room.

He kills me.

Do you see what I see???

I got my camera back!! Whoo!!

Mr Brady is an awesome soccer player. Seriously. This kid has totally come out of his shell during the last 2 seasons. He has some fancy footwork and scores at least once every game. He totally looks forward to Saturdays...it is fun to watch him. He is funny after he makes a goal...he is almost embarrassed from the attention. It is sweet.

Brady...going in to steal the ball.

Got it! Whoo!! Go Brady!

SCORE!

See...he is so proud.

And Marissa...watching the action. She really wants to play...but I REALLY didn't want to go to 3 different soccer practices (at least-Kenna practices twice) and then 3 games on Saturday. But I think we are going to have to for the fall season. She wants to play badly!!

Later, we got out the slip and slide Jeff and Breezy gave the kids for Easter. It was hilarious. They were flying. It came with little boogie boards that really made you haul.

Brady..

Marcus 'helping' Rissa.

Wee-haw!

Then Marcus had to get in on the action...
So...we are alive. Way busy. I started a job at a bank here in town. It is really weird working. I haven't really worked since I was 16 and working for Burger King. So that is taking some getting used to. I think I am going to like it. The kids are able to hang out with our Friday night babysitter Katelynn and they LOVE her (I don't think they miss me at all). So that is nice...plus she is only 14, so it is cheaper than daycare.
Anywho...thats what we are doing. More to come...eventually.
